Lake Balaton adds the 400 km KalandKör400 route
BalatonBike365 has expanded the region's cycling offer with KalandKör400: a 400 km route that loops all the way around Lake Balaton without following the familiar shoreline cycle path.
One more lap around Lake Balaton?
KK400 – the 400-kilometre KalandKör
Think Lake Balaton is all about the shoreline? Head inland and a different side of the region opens up. If you have already ridden the classic lap of the lake and are ready for something wilder, quieter and far more varied, then KalandKör400 is the route for you.
Discover hidden villages, climb to lookouts you may never have seen before, and ride past the Witness Hills on roads that take you well beyond the usual Balaton postcard.

This 400-kilometre circuit loops all the way around Lake Balaton without following the familiar shoreline cycle path. Instead, it mixes easier and tougher off-road sections with quiet tarmac roads that form part of BalatonBike365's 1,000-kilometre signposted network. What ties it all together is the feeling of space: lighter traffic, bigger landscapes, and long stretches where nature feels close enough to touch. The Balaton Uplands, Zala and Somogy each bring a different mood to the ride. If castle ruins, sleepy villages and a glass of local wine sound like your kind of day out, KK400 delivers all of that and more. It is a chance to add places to your Balaton bucket list that only the most committed riders ever reach.
It is also a route worth training for. KK400 can keep you motivated all season long. Strong riders will love it on a gravel bike, e-bikes make the high points more accessible, and if you are here more for the scenery than the stopwatch, you can dip into shorter stretches of the signposted loop. Most stages feature only moderate off-road terrain. Well-maintained compacted dirt tracks are rideable on many touring bikes, while a mountain bike is the dependable all-round option. The route is signposted throughout, and thanks to the BalatonBike365 network you can join KK400 from almost any settlement on the lakeshore. If you prefer GPS navigation, download the BB365 app and let it guide the way.

Although the route heads inland to pick up many of the region's lesser-known sights, Lake Balaton is never far away and the ride regularly returns to the shore. If you are not just out for a tour but want to compare your performance with your own future self or with other riders, you are in exactly the right place.
And if you enjoy the competitive side of cycling, 50 QR codes along the route help verify your progress. Scan them with your phone and you can track your ride down to the second, whether you are chasing your own best time, riding with friends, or taking on the wider field. You can aim for the full 400-kilometre loop or target the leaderboards one stage at a time.
If you do not have a gravel bike, do not want to bring your own, or would appreciate a little electric assistance, the BalatonBike365 Port cycling centres rent out top-tier Scott gravel, gravel plus and e-gravel bikes, alongside other premium e-bike models, for everything from day rides to multi-day adventures.
